Nutritional Medicine

Hipprocrates was onto something with his initial thoughts on health. He understood there was a crucial link between food and health. From this, nutritional medicine is based on the principle that nutrients, including essentials micronutrients, are required for the proper functioning of all the biochemical processes on which our bodies depend.  

Nutrients are the building blocks of our body, when the correct balance of foods are consumed, we remain healthy, when they are not in balance health conditions appear. Nutritional medicine looks at food as medicine, by addressing nutritional imbalances, restoring health, optimizing health, and prevent or slow health deterioration. Put simply, to help you live longer with good health.

As a nutritionist I draw on a holistic approach and consider the whole person – mind, body, and spirit. Nutritional medicine is personalised medicine that deals with the prevention and addresses underlying causes of chronic disease. It moves from the modern disease centered focus, to patients-centered approach. We’re all different, and as such a one size fits all approach doesn’t work.

I draw on traditional knowledge as well as scientific evidence-based medicine to get you back to great health. The aim is to educate and empower you to understand your health manifestation and support you with natural treatments.

Expect to go deep.

I look at the body holistically, this means I take into consideration not only the diet but the complex interplay between the physical, environmental, chemical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of your life. I work in conjunction with my clients to improve health and disease risk reduction, you’re in the driver seat. I educate you to take control of your health. I work on evidence-based nutrition, this means all recommendations are backed by scientific evidence, no lemon detox or juice cleanses here!

The human body is an amazing, complex, ever evolving machine. Everything is linked, and therefore, a symptom you might be presenting with could be a result of something that happened years ago or something you’d never have thought of linking yourself. That’s why I’m here, to help navigate your health and help you feel amazing.

I believe that education is the key to better health, if you know how things work, and how your choices can positively or negatively impact your health then you have the knowledge to make change. I could tell you what to eat, but if I’m not letting you know why I’m recommending things, you’re less likely to make change.

There is no I in team, I am a firm believer in working in conjunction with other health professionals such as GPs and specialists in a collaborative way.  

As with most health complaints it has taken years for them to develop as a result seeing me once isn’t going to fix you. Depending on why you are seeing me, it could take anywhere from a couple of visits to a year to get you back to optimal health.

It’s an investment that is worth every dollar, I want to make you look and feel your best I don’t do that through quick fixes.

1 -1 Consultations

Starter package $559

(normally $610)

The first 12 weeks are the most important in any treatment protocol as we will start to correct the underlying imbalances that have been the root cause of your symptoms. Therefore, I recommend the starter package. It includes 1 x initial consultation and 4 x follow up consultations. This is the perfect amount of time for you to see noticeable improvements in your health.

Initial consultation – $170

Thorough health history appointment, the aim of the initial appointment is to gather as much information as possible to get an understanding of your health history. We will go over your health issues, presenting symptoms, health background, family history, lifestyle habits, and your current diet (a diet diary will be completed prior to appointment). I will discuss any imbalances in your diet based off your diet diary and presenting symptoms and advise on ways to correct these. This may include supplementation and pathology testing may be required. At the end of the appointment you will receive an individualised treatment plan and any handouts/recipes/resources appropriate.

** Please note any recommended supplements are in addition to the consultation price.

Follow up consultation $110

A follow up consultation runs for 30 minutes and involves ongoing health assessment, we will evaluate the initial treatment plan and monitor progress. Any pathology will be reviewed and supplements (if prescribed) will be adjusted/removed accordingly.  As with the initial consultation you will walk away with an individualised treatment plan, and any appropriate handouts/resources.

Long follow up consultation $130

A long follow up consultation runs for 45 minutes – recommended if I have not seen you for 6+ months. Involves ongoing health assesssment as above in 30min consultation. 

Acute consultation – $70

Acute consultations are perfect for when you’re feeling a little run down, you might feel a cold coming on and you want some help kicking it in the butt before it takes hold. We will go over your presenting symptoms and I will put together a short-term treatment plan to get you feeling your best quickly.

*** Please note, acute consultations are only for current clients. I cannot do an acute case on someone I have not seen previously as I need to understand your case history before prescribing anything. Call or email if you’re not sure.
